What is an Options Market Maker?

Options market making is sending a two sided quote to the market; ie a price which you will buy at, and a price you will sell at. Options market makers typically make quotes on many or all of the different option strikes and maturities listed on an underlying security.

What is prop trading?

Proprietary trading refers to trading without customers. All positions are held by the company, and all profit or loss from those trades accrues internally.

Are you a hedge fund?

We are not a hedge fund. A hedge fund trades on behalf of investors. Our firm is owned almost entirely by the staff.

Are employees entitled to purchase shares in the company?

Most senior staff members will be offered the chance to purchase shares. This is one of the major benefits of working at Eclipse for senior staff, and sets us apart from the competition.

How has recent market volatility affected your business?

Our business model relies more on derivatives turnover than directional movements. Events in the stock market relating to subprime led to record volumes on some Asian exchanges, including Hong Kong.

If I start as a trainee trader, how long is the training program?

Training takes place over approximately the first three months, and once the trainee has passed regulatory exams, they can commence trading.

What are the work hours for all roles?

We work hard, but have reasonable hours. It's more important to be productive than to count hours or watch when your boss leaves.

Can I reapply if I fail the math test?

No we only allow applicants to attempt the test once.

Does Eclipse offer internships?

We are not currently offering internship positions.

Indeed, we aim to recruit and train junior traders for a long term career in our company. It is a time consuming training which takes at minimum 6 months and involves all of our senior traders.

What is the dress code?

We have a casual work environment, jeans and T-shirt are fine!
